How do I register a NEW student to Plainview?

For students who are NEW to Rutherford County Schools, please click on “Parents” and then “Registration.” You will need to complete the NEW STUDENT ONLINE ENROLLMENT. You will be need to have the following items ready to upload: birth certificate, TN immunization form and Proof-of-Residence.

How do I register a NEW student to Plainview that is coming from another Rutherford County School?

How do I complete my yearly student registration online, now called "ANNUAL REQUIRED STUDENT UPDATE"?

This is NOT available for the 25-26 school year yet. For returning students, this will be active in mid-July 2025. There is NOTHING that you need to do until that time.

When you open Skyward, you should see an option to begin the ANNUAL REQUIRED STUDENT UPDATE in the center of the page. If you have multiple children and you don't see that option, click on one of your students and look again.

Registration is happening ONLINE again this year. We are strongly encouraging everyone to complete the “Annual Required Student Update” when logging into the PRIMARY CUSTODIAL PARENT’S Skyward account. Please note, you CANNOT log into your student’s account to complete this step. You will also be asked to submit an updated Proof-of-Residence. This is required of every Rutherford County Schools student, every single year.

How do I access my PARENT Skyward account?

To find Skyward, please click “Parents” and then “Skyward.”

Login to your PARENT account to be able to do the yearly registration, now called ANNUAL REQUIRED STUDENT INFORMATION. This option is available for primary custodial parents only. If you log in and do NOT see the option to do the ANNUAL REQUIRED STUDENT INFORMATION, please email BOTH of the following email addressed: Tarah Tarin ([email protected]) and Andie Mueller ([email protected])

If you do not remember your login, you can click that you forgot your password and it should help you.

What is an acceptable PROOF-OF-RESIDENCE

Proof-of-Residence MUST be in the name of the custodian parent/guardian of the student at the Plainview zoned address. These items need to be CURRENT (from within June, July or August 2025)

We can accept anything that you could use to obtain a TN ID card. Items include a CURRENT copy of the following:

Utility Bills

Bank Statements

Rental/Mortgage Contracts/Deeds

Paychecks/check stubs

Insurance policies (auto, life, health)

Motor Vehicle Registration/title

Voter registration

IRS w-2 from most recent year

Property tax receipts

ITIN tax number from IRS

Immigration paperwork

Employer Authorization Cards

DHS Benefit Mailing

Probation paperwork to the address

Proof/print out that address has been changed with the post office

When is the first day of school & how will that look?

For 1st – 5th graders, the first official day of school is Wednesday, August 6, 2025. This is our registration day, and we will be open between 7:30 am – 9:30 am. We ask that parents come to the school with their students and walk them to their classrooms. We will have people stationed throughout the building to assist you with where to go. Once you complete the paperwork that the teacher has, you are free to leave.

What are school hours?

School hours are 7:30 am – 2:30 pm.

Students are expected to be in their classes, ready to learn at 7:30 am. Because of this, the car rider lines will CLOSE at 7:26 am. If you arrive at the school after the car drop-off lines are closed, please bring your student to the FRONT OFFICE to check in.

The doors to the school open at 6:45 am at the back drop-off line. The Kindergarten drop-off line, at the front of the school, does not open until 7:15 am.

Will there be an Orientation night at Plainview.

We will be hosting an Orientation night on Thursday, August 14, 2025, from 5:30 - 7 pm. You will go to your child's classroom(s) and enjoy a short presentation from Mrs. Sturm & Mrs. DeJaynes and then learn about ALL THE THINGS from your student's teacher. While students are welcome, this is a great time for PARENTS to have time with the teachers. There will not be activities outside of the meeting with the teachers.

You can put money on your student’s account once you know their State Student ID. You may ask your student what that number is as they have to use it for many things during the day. If you need help locating it, please call the office at 615-904-6790 (press “0”).

Please see the following website to access the online meal pay program. This is a great program because you can set it to notify you when your student’s account goes below a certain amount. You can also see what meals your student is buying.
